The female parent is our best selected clone of Nepenthes spathulata, sold under BE-3174 and the male parent is a selected clone of what was then known as the ‘red hairy’ form of Nepenthes hamata. The male parent has since been described as ‘Nepenthes diabolica’, which is a distinct species. As can be seen from the photos, the entire shape and colouration of this cross is completely different from those made with either the Lumut or Tambusisi forms of Nepenthes hamata, which is understandable, considering how different Nepenthes diabolica is from Nepenthes. hamata.
